Parabolic Mirror Panel

This shows the panel from a low angle in the early morning.  The observer is facing North-East at a low angle the troughs are facing away towards the rising sun.  The effective capture area is approximately 50% of the solar area; this is what is being referred to when we speak of cosine losses.
